What embarking on our 10th year of homeschool looks like

I sat down on the living room floor with tired eyes & dirty hair as they snuggled in close with a few forced/cheesy smiles and a whole lot of love... it's all part of the Balm. 

Being in the picture with my boys at the end of our first day of {home}school creates visual evidence that, not only are they part of my story, but I'm part of theirs. We're in this together.

And there's nowhere else I'd rather be. 

The homeschool laws vary between states, but we're blessed to live in Texas where a homeschool family is viewed as a private school, with no interference from or necessary reporting to local public school districts/governments. Texas law does require that the curriculum must be visual and include the five basic subjects of reading, spelling, grammar, mathematics, and good citizenship. We use Abeka to help us accomplish these academic requirements and impart Christian values.

If God places this desire in your heart, He will provide a way! That doesn't mean it's easy - homeschooling my four boys is the HARDEST LABOR of love in my life thus far. It's intense HEART-WORK, but I have determined it's absolutely worth it. And when the days feel way too long, I remind myself that the years are indeed short. This season will pass; time keeps moving. I try to keep that in perspective.
