Front Porch Portraits
I’m putting a new positive spin on the phrase “drive-by shooting” and using my camera to bless local families with free mini photo sessions!
How does this work?
I come to you.
You and your loved ones gather on your front porch.
Be as comfy and cozy or as dressed up and fancy as you want!
I’ll use a longer lens and stay at my car or the roadside/sidewalk while I take your family’s pictures, so we comply with social distancing guidelines.
Your Front Porch Session will be 10 minutes max.
I’ll deliver your two final photos, professionally edited, via email within two weeks.
Who needs portraits?
You know I’m always preaching, “Mommas, get in the photos with your children.” While that certainly applies now, I was also thinking these sessions could be used for high school Seniors - in casual or formal attire… really, whatever you want! Maybe little ones drawing with sidewalk chalk or blowing bubbles, mom sipping coffee or sweet tea, dad cooking out… the possibilities are endless! Or maybe the whole family just snuggles up in a giant group hug. It’s your porch, your family, your time, your pictures!
I’m here to serve you with the talent, skill, and equipment God’s blessed me with to document this moment in time.
Because this is all temporary.
Things will eventually resume back to “normal” and these crazy quarantine days will just be a memory.
When & WHERE? (Update 3/25)
There has been an OVERWHELMING response to these Front Porch Portraits! I quickly realized that I won’t be able to accommodate everyone. If your neighborhood is not listed in the pink box below, know that I’m hoping to do this again.
I’ll be coming to the following areas in the next three evenings, 6-8pm…
What about “Shelter at Home” orders?
As I type this at 3:30pm on Wednesday 3/25/2020, there are no such orders for Johnson County (where I offer these drive-by sessions). However, if your home is in Tarrant County, such as the northern portion of Burleson, I will unfortunately need to postpone your Front Porch Portraits. Even though I’m offering these mini sessions for free and at a “safe” distance, I still fall under the description of “non-essential” small business and could be severely fined if I fail to cooperate. As much as it breaks my heart, this currently affects the Mistletoe Hill community, where I know there is great interest. Please understand; I will come there, but can’t at this time.

I want to encourage you to use your own camera, even your phone, to capture home life, as this is an important historical time world-wide! I’ve shared photo tips on my blog here and here to help you.

Free? Really?
Absolutely! I understand that these days are hard for many with businesses and schools closing indefinitely. Booking a photo session is probably one of the last things on your mind, as it doesn’t seem a necessity.
But, I believe so strongly in the power of visual storytelling and the importance of documenting home life, that I truly want to offer these mini sessions for free!
However, if you’re able and feel compelled to give something, please consider donating to your local church’s mission fund. Missionaries around the world count on the faithful giving of local churches, not just for their ministries, but to support their own personal families. I am happy to recommend specific missionaries if you prefer to give directly.
We’re all in this together.
